The war between Israel and Hamas has had the ugly side effect of exposing a heretofore unknown level of anti-Semitism here in the US. While we’re convinced this is not as widespread as the news media would have you believe, there are examples that can’t be dismissed as the behavior of typical puerile radicals. Nearly all the anti-Semitism cases cited originate from progressive liberal institutions, directly from Democrat leaders, or within Democrat groups identified in polling data. Here are some of the highlights.
College Students – The anti-Israel sentiment in the form of protests, publications, interviews, social media statements, etc. on elite college campuses is appalling. Worse, these students appear to have absolutely no knowledge of history in this context, nor are they at all interested in learning about it. Most of them appear to be mindlessly following the actions of their peer group and are far more interested in being socially reinforced by their participation. They are indifferent to being on the right side of history and principle.
At Harvard University, fresh off a stinging Supreme Court decision finding them guilty of racial discrimination in their admissions process, 30+ student groups endorsed a letter blaming Israel, not Hamas, for the October 7th terrorist attacks that killed over 1,000 Israelis. On campus, Jewish students are being spat on, bullied, intimidated, and physically assaulted. Initially, the Harvard leadership did nothing to discourage these activities, and even tacitly endorsed them.1 As a result, law firms and CEOs of prominent corporations stated they will not hire the Harvard students who participated in this vicious anti-Semitic behavior. Once the leading university in the country, Harvard has become a cesspool of bigotry, hate, and radical thought.
College Professors – We know not all college professors are Democrat hyper-progressives, and many refrain from trying to “indoctrinate” the young minds they teach with leftist ideology. However, most academics do lean left, particularly those at the elite schools. The provocative words and actions of young students espousing a radical ideology can perhaps be understood because they are young and lack the wisdom that comes with age. College professors don’t have that excuse. When teachers publicly spew hatred for Israel and support for murderous Hamas thugs, they are acting as perverse role models for ill-informed student lemmings.
Need examples? Cornell University history professor Russell Rickford stated at a pro-Palestinian rally that he was “exhilarated” by the Hamas attacks on Israel. Yale University professor Zareena Grewal stated, “Israel is a murderous, genocidal settler state and Palestinians have every right to resist through armed struggle, solidarity”. Stanford instructor Ameer Hasan Loggins was suspended for targeting Jewish students in the classroom as examples of “occupiers” and the cause of the current conflict. These professors may have deeply held religious contempt for Israel, which is their right. However, it is totally irresponsible of them to abuse the trust implicit in their position as teachers to infect students with that hatred.
Rashida Tlaib – After the October 7th terrorist attacks against Israel by Hamas, Democrat Congresswoman Tlaib called for “the destruction of the State of Israel”. So bad were her additional antisemitic comments and protestations, she was formally censured by the House of Representatives. Lest you think that was a partisan action, 22 members of her own party voted for her censure. If there were any lingering doubts about Tlaib’s hatred of Israel, it was revealed this week that three people who helped her raise campaign money for her Senate run in 2018 supported and supplied Hamas. One of them, Sheikh Muhammad Qatanani, has been designated a Hamas terrorist by Israel since 1989.
State Department – State Department staffers recently wrote an internal memo imploring the Biden Administration to support a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and be willing to publicly criticize “Israeli military tactics and treatments of Palestinians”. This follows the resignation of senior State Department employee Josh Paul because he could not abide the Biden Administration’s unilateral support of Israel in this conflict. Another State Department employee, Sylvia Yacoub, posted on X that President Biden is “complicit in genocide” of the people in Gaza. These are all Democrat political appointees who apparently hate Israel so much they are willing to risk or even give up their government careers in protest.
Associated Press Poll – A public opinion poll taken by the AP during November 2nd – 6th showed that 65% of Democrats under the age of 45 disapprove of the Biden Administration’s supportive stance on Israel. This is a stunning number given the fact that most Jewish people in the US align themselves with the Democrat party. Will this be the issue that changes that affiliation?
There are many more examples. This list just touches the surface. Who knew that so many people, claiming to be members of the party of “inclusion” and “tolerance” could harbor such hatred toward the Jewish people. We suppose if you are a Democrat these days you must toe the line on who you “exclude” just as much as who you include.
1 At first, Harvard was mulishly silent after the Hamas attacks on Israel. When it became painfully obvious that they had to say something, they issued a statement that strongly implied a moral equivalency between Hamas’s terrorism and Israel’s counterattack. Harvard’s leadership quickly found themselves roundly criticized, even by their own faculty members. 100 faculty members published a letter rebuking their own University by strongly stating there is no “equivalency” to be seen between the actions of Hamas and those of Israel.

I knew there was some level of antisemitism in this country, but it is far worse than I imagined. I hold the left and the Democratic party largely responsible. For decades they have turned a blind eye and failed to confront this sickness that has been growing on the left and within their party. It is despicable.
And now we see the Biden and his administration trying thread the needle to condemn it while minimizing the alienation of the antisemitic faction of his base. Implementing an anti-islamophobia campaign in the middle of all this. Are you ####ing kidding me? Biden is spineless and a disgrace!
I have long wondered (been baffled) why Jewish people tend to lean left in their politics, in particular how they vote, when conservatives have demonstrated time and time again that they have their backs.
The left has once again been exposed. I hope this time it’s a wakeup call and the American people respond accordingly!!
Excellent points Ray! Everything you said is the reason why we decided to write this article. We too are baffled at the attachment of Jewish people to the Democrat party. Paula’s best guess is that they are drawn to the traditional ideals of the Democrat party, not what it has evolved into today.
Regarding Biden – we don’t think he, and by “he” we mean his handlers, are genuinely concerned about anything other than reelection and approval ratings. It is fascinating to see how fractured the Democrats are over this Israel-Hamas conflict. Viciously so at times. It makes the much hyped “fractures” in the Republican party look quite small in comparison.
